Eni and Enea together to develop a program of joint initiatives aimed at technological innovation. On the table of the two partners are issues related to the circular economy and new sustainable economic models, the production of energy with low or zero greenhouse gas emissions (including concentrated solar power, photovoltaic and biomass), energy storage technologies energy, energy efficiency, digitization and environmental monitoring and protection, with particular reference to climate change. The Memorandum of understanding was signed on July 19 in Rome
“With ENEA we have several objectives in common in terms of research and innovation – declared Claudio Descalzi – and this collaboration will allow us to also investigate issues related to the environment and digitalisation, with potentially significant impacts on the country system. Today we confirm our strategic commitment to the decarbonisation process, aimed at reducing emissions, promoting the use of natural gas and developing renewable energies. A commitment that is growing both in terms of dedicated internal resources and collaborations with the best national and international research and innovation centres. A commitment that also sees us focused on developing technological solutions in a circular economy perspective applied to business, which means expanding the concept of efficiency, with the reduction of waste and the enhancement of waste materials".
“By signing this agreement, we aim to expand our collaboration with Eni, which is already strong in other important joint national projects and in particular in the 'National Energy Technology Cluster' coordinated by Enea and set up last year. The agreement will therefore allow for the development of a strong synergy between Enea's specificities, such as technical-scientific skills and the role of technology transfer to companies, and Eni's commitment to energy and the environment, topics strategic for us. I am convinced that the formalization of this new collaboration will contribute to creating positive effects for the country in terms of decarbonisation of the economy, environmental sustainability and new jobs”, declared the president of ENEA Federico Testa.
