Aeneas and Asja, electric mobility runs: recharges in 10 seconds

The twenty-second edition of Ecomondo - the international fair of the green and circular economy - has started, which takes place in Rimini until 9 November 2018. As part of the event, here are the latest news for recharging in record time and for totally electric mobility zero emissions

Aeneas and Asja, electric mobility runs: recharges in 10 seconds

A super-fast recharge (a matter of seconds) for electric buses and a zero-carbon recharge system in the city. These are the novelties of Enea and Asja – in joint venture with EPStation, Innogy, Emoby and SKIDATA – presented separately at Ecomondo, the international fair which has been held in Rimini for twenty-two editions and during which the green world presents all its innovations.

Let's start with Aeneas: the'Agency led by Federico Testa and committed to research and technological innovation, has developed a new technology (Flash charge) which through the use of special devices allows the electric buses to fill up in a few seconds, optimizing the stop time of the vehicle. The 'Flash Charge' system is based on the joint use of supercapacitors on board buses and at bus stops, devices capable of supplying high power in short periods.

“To recharge a bus in 10, maximum 20 seconds, the mere presence of an adequate charging infrastructure along the service line is enough. This allows electrified public transport to be projected towards unlimited autonomy - explained in Rimini Antonino Genovese, head of the Agency's systems and technologies laboratory for sustainable mobility - Another advantage of this technology is the lower impact on the electricity distribution network . To make the system more versatile, we are working on further solutions with small-capacity batteries".

Sustainable mobility is always at the heart of joint venture between EpStation, Innogy, Asja, Emoby and Skidata on the project "Smart City Parking" which links together the Italian startup (EpStation), two large groups such as the German Innogy and the Austrian multinational Skidata and Asja, the historic Italian producer of green energy. It is an integrated project that ranges from the production of energy from renewable sources and electric vehicle recharging platforms within all the parking areas automated by Skidata, to micro-mobility through the virtuous model of circular economy.

The agreement will be applied throughout Italy: this is the first totally zero-emission experience which envisages the involvement of the parking areas present throughout the country as natural hubs for the activation of a "parking - electric mobility" system which will contribute to make Italian cities smarter.

Asja's president, Agostino Re Rebaudengo, underlined that: “Today in Italy about a third of the electricity consumed is produced from renewable sources and therefore has zero CO2 emissions. The remaining part, being produced from fossil sources, however, still has a negative impact on the climate. Through the carbon credits generated by the production of renewable energy in its plants in Italy and abroad, Asja Ambiente Italia cancels the residual CO2 emissions relating to the electricity supplied by the EPStation and Emoby charging stations and contributes to making the concept completely sustainable of Smart City Parking proposed.”
