Enav returns to profit despite Covid

Air traffic in Italy is still falling in the first quarter of 2021, compared to the same period of 2020, when travel restrictions only took effect late in the quarter. Despite this though Enav sees consolidated revenues grow by 10% to 189 million, "thanks also to the protection provided by European regulation", while operating revenues fatally lose 63% to 49 million euros. Ebitda, which benefited from the external cost control actions, rebounded by 54,8% to 44,7 million. Above all consolidated net income starts to grow again, which stands at 11,8 million euro against the negative result of 6,2 million euro recorded a year ago, "mainly due to the effect of the different mechanism for valuing the balance for the period". En route and terminal traffic plummet to -65,1% and -66,9% respectively in terms of service units compared to Q2020 XNUMX.

“The European regulation and the actions implemented by ENAV – he commented the managing director of Enav Paolo Simioni – to mitigate the impacts of Covid, they are protecting us from the effects resulting from the sharp drop in air traffic. We are not resting on the guarantees that EU legislation offers us, but we are instead pursuing a series of initiatives, from infrastructural digitization, to the renewal of operating platforms and the development of services related to drones, which will allow ENAV to get out of the crisis generated by the pandemic. Although in a still very difficult context, we expect that, thanks to the progress of the vaccination campaign, at least 50% of the flights in 2019 can be recovered starting from the summer season".
