Enav takes over the Rimini control tower

From today, Enav will provide the air traffic control service at Rimini airport with its own operating personnel. This is the fifth turnover in just over two years after the airports of Ciampino, Verona, Treviso and Brindisi.

The transit of services, foreseen by the Interministerial Decree of the Ministry of Defence, was coordinated by Enac through the drafting of an Operational Plan signed by the Air Force, ENAV and ENAC.

Enav's takeover of the management of the control tower and the Rimini airport approach service takes place in complete safety and without interruption, thanks to a training activity of the air traffic controllers, which lasted a few months, which took place using the modern 3D Tower simulators available to Enav at its Academy.

Specific training was also carried out directly on the control tower in close collaboration with the Air Force which will continue to take care of running and maintenance for some services until the complete adaptation of the systems by ENAV.

Enav has already planned a technological modernization plan in line with corporate objectives. With the management of the Rimini airport control tower, Enav ensures its services at 44 airports throughout the country.

“With the transfer of Rimini – comments the CEO Roberta Neri – we have completed the transition of the military airports to ENAV. Being able to be operational on 5 new airports in just over two years demonstrates once again the operational and technical capabilities of the Company. I would like to thank the Air Force and ENAC for their collaboration and support. The excellent success of the operation is the result of the great synergy between the institutions”.
