Emma Bonino, former European commissioner and foreign minister and long-time parliamentarian, has lung cancer. She confessed it publicly to the microphones of Radical Radio. her name has been mentioned several times for the succession to Giorgio Napolitano at the Quirinale and now that the time for voting is approaching, she calls herself out: "I am in chemotherapy, my commitment is all aimed at suffocating the tumor before it choke me”.

 "It is a localized and still asymptomatic form - she said - but nevertheless it will require a long and complex chemotherapy treatment which has already been started and which will last at least 6 months". "I am not willing to interrupt my activities because - continues Emma Bonino in the declaration – one cannot resign from a political passion, however it is clear that my activities will have to be organized on the basis of medical needs which must be given an absolute priority at this moment, which is not easy even for me ".
