United Arab Emirates, Sace signs two agreements for over 1 billion

The first project aims to support exports and investments by Italian companies involved in the Dubai South project, an area of ​​145 square km that will host the new Al Maktoum international airport and Expo Dubai 2020 - The second concerns projects for Italian companies in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, in particular for the development of the Khalifa Port.

Sace , Dubai Aviation City Corporation have signed a collaboration agreement aimed at supporting exports and investments of Italian companies involved in the Dubai South project, an area of ​​145 square km which will host the new Al Maktoum International Airport and Expo Dubai 2020. The signature arrives precisely on the day of the National Day of the United Arab Emirates celebrated at the Expo in Milan.

The agreement was signed by Khalifa Suhail Al Zaffin, executive president of the DACC, and Alessandro Castellano, CEO of Sace, in the presence of the UAE Minister of Economy, Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, and the Italian Minister of Economic Development Federica Guidi. With this agreement, SACE has made a 1 billion euro credit line available to DACC for the purchase of goods and services from Italian companies. 

Dubai South will be the area destined for the next universal exhibition that will take place in 2020. The area will also host the new Al Maktoum International Airport, destined to become the largest airport in the world with a capacity of 120 million passengers and 12 million tons of cargo per year.

“Dubai South is a strategic project for our Emirate, in which we intend to invest to develop the most modern and eco-sustainable technologies. This implies the use of the best expertise in the various areas of the project” – said Khalifa Al Zaffin, executive president of DACC. – Italian technology, as well as Made in Italy goods and services, have already contributed to building the Dubai International Airport. With this agreement, we want to invite Italian companies to participate in this project and, with the support of SACE, to carry on a fruitful partnership. We thank SACE for making this line of credit available to Italian companies to support Italian exports”.

Always today Sace also signed with the Abu Dhabi Ports a 'memorandum of understanding' for the strengthening of their trade relations and for the identification of new business opportunities for Italian companies. The agreement provides for the evaluation of important projects for Italian companies in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, in particular, regarding the development of Khalifa Port, the port of Abu Dhabi and the Kizad free zone. “Khalifa Port is an expression of the strategy of economic and industrial diversification of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, to which Italian companies can contribute with the skills acquired in key sectors for the UAE economy – declares Alessandro Castellano, CEO of SACE -. The agreement signed today with Abu Dhabi Ports opens new important growth opportunities for Made in Italy in the UAE, where our companies export 5 billion euros of goods and services".
