Gas emergency: 2 million more Made in Italy cubic meters starting next year

What is Italy doing to avoid the state of gas emergency? Beyond the agreements to increase the influx from other countries, as early as next year there will be a increase in national production of about 2 million cubic meters, to then increase again. This is the government's assurance, provided to the Chamber in the Environment Committee by the Undersecretary for Ecological Transition Vannia Gava in response to the request to encourage our national production, including through the removal of the ban on hydrocarbon exploration and cultivation in some areas of the national territory.

Gas emergency: the plan for suitable areas

In the meantime, pending the adoption of the Plan for the sustainable energy transition of suitable areas (PiTESAI) in order to identify a reference framework of the areas where it is permitted to carry out hydrocarbon exploration, exploration and production activities on the national territory - which the hydrocarbon production activities could continue, as well as the extension measures and the granting of new concessions. And then - the government representative recalled again - the guidelines are being finalized with which the GSE (electricity services manager) will start the procedures for the long-term supply of natural gas of national production, inviting you to holders of gas production concessions in the territorial sea and on the continental shelf, whose production plants are "compatible", even in the case of unproductive concessions or voluntary suspension of activities, will participate.

Therefore, "an increase in national production is expected from next year of approximately 2 million sm3 (unit of measurement in standard conditions of gas pressure and temperature, ed.) to then further increase, in addition to the expectations of other production that may derive from technical interventions to optimize the gas recovery/extraction activity and to the desirable construction of new mining infrastructures for cultivation”.

Moreover. "A possible timely contribution to the increase in production - added Vannia Gava - can be made by intervening on the suspended production concessions that already have adequate infrastructure to restart production itself, except for any minimal technical interventions, for which it is not necessary to wait the authorization and construction times preparatory to any further "drilling".
