Finmeccanica's ordeal cannot last long. This is why, despite the European tour that is engaging him, Mario Monti has taken the field directly, urging a "responsible and rapid solution" for Finmeccanica.
The judicial revelations on impressive bribes to the political world are putting the stock on the stock exchange, also affected by the accounting disaster that emerged in the last quarter and by the consequent need for shock therapy based on cuts and disposals (Ansaldo Breda in the lead ). But, to aggravate an already very serious situation, there is also the disagreement now open between the new CEO Giuseppe Orsi and the president Pier Francesco Guarguaglini (and his wife Marina Grossi, CEO of Selex Sistemi Integrati who refused to resign despite the pressing by Orsi). Despite the denials, Guarguaglini is also one step away from resigning and is probably negotiating the conditions.
In recent days a Bernabè-like solution had been mooted for Finmeccanica, from the successful turnaround that Prime Minister Amato decreed for ENI at the time of Tangentopoli with the promotion from within Franco Bernabè to CEO of the oil giant who turned out to be a great success. If this were the case, the general director Alessandro Pansa could take the place of the current summit in the role of CEO while the name of the former police chief, Gianni De Gennaro, has been circulating for the presidency for days.
