Elections, Rome: Gualtieri elected deputy with 62,2%

The Economy Minister triumphs in the by-elections in central Rome and becomes deputy to replace Paolo Gentiloni - The collapse of the grillini is an advance notice of eviction to the Giunta Raggi

Elections, Rome: Gualtieri elected deputy with 62,2%

Despite the very low participation, also thanks to the traffic block decided by the Giunta Raggi, the Collegio di Roma Centro does not betray the centre-left and the Minister of Economy, Roberto Gualtieri, wins big with the Present in several = 62,2% supplementary elections for the Chamber of Deputies.

Gualtieri, supported by the Democratic Party, Italia Viva, + Europa and Leu, thus becomes a deputy to replace former premier Paolo Gentiloni, meanwhile became European Commissioner for Economic Affairs.

"It is a success that rewards the coalition and strengthens the government", commented Gualtieri.

However, the turnout was low at the polls: alone the 17,6% of those entitled actually voted, i.e. only 32.880 voters out of 186.234.

Behind Gualtieri was the centre-right candidate, Maurice Leo, which however stopped at 26%.

The performance of the grillini was disastrous, whose candidate Rossella Rendina it garnered only a paltry 4,4%; a result that sounds like an advance notice of eviction to Virginia Raggi, who will go down in history as one of the worst mayors in the capital.
