REGIONAL ELECTIONS – The Democratic Party conquers Campania but loses Liguria and wins in Tuscany, Umbria, Marche and Puglia – The center-right wins hands down in Veneto and conquers Liguria with Toti – The League does very well, good result from the M5S, Forza Italia collapses – Il Pd pays the divisions on the left - record absenteeism - THE FINAL RESULTS.

REGIONAL ELECTIONS – 5 to 2 for the Democratic Party which conquers Campania but loses Liguria

The Pd beats the center-right by 5 to 2, wins in Tuscany, Umbria, Marche and Puglia and conquers Campania (even if it will have to face the gauntlet of the Severino law for the governor De Luca) but bitterly loses Liguria due to the fratricidal divisions on the left and suffers a predictable but resounding defeat in Veneto.

Matteo Renzi conquers 5 Regions but a divided Democratic Party and clearly not in step with its leader stops its driving force and calls for frank internal reflections and a showdown in the party. The center-right loses Campania but wins an unexpected victory in Liguria with Giovanni Toti and wins hands down in Veneto: the Lega flies and Fi collapses even if it conquers a region like Liguria. The 5 Star Movement achieves its best result in the administrative elections.

According to the projections of the Piepoli institute, on a national scale, the Pd is the first party with 23,7% of the votes, in second place is the M5S with 18%, in third place the Lega with 12,5%. in fourth place Forza Italia with 10,7% and then Fratelli d'Italia with 4,2% and Popular Area with 3,5%.

Abstention was devastating, reducing voters to 52,2% (final figure), down more than 11 percentage points from five years ago.

The Regionals have their own particular electoral mechanism and, especially if partial, they are not comparable with the last European ones and must be taken with a grain of salt also for their national projections but yesterday's vote will open reflections and strong debates also in the light of the new rules of the game introduced by the Italicum. At present, the ballot would take place between the Democratic Party and the grillini.
