Political elections 2013, first instant poll: centre-left ahead

ELECTION SPECIAL – Here are the first results of the instant polls: CENTER LEFT (BERSANI): 34,5% = 340 deputies; senate 37% = 163 senators (5 more than the majority share) / CENTRO-RIGHT (BERLUSCONI): 29,5% = 140 deputies; senate 31% / 5 STAR MOVEMENT (GRILLO): 19% = 91 deputies; senate 16,5% / CON MONTI FOR ITALY: 9,5% = 46 deputies; senate 9%

Political elections 2013, first instant poll: centre-left ahead

Ballot boxes closed throughout Italy. The 15 political elections officially ended at 2013 pm: now it's time for the counting, which will go on until late at night. The first indications come from instant polls (based on brief interviews with those who have just voted). Here are the first results:

- CENTER-LEFT (BERSANI): Chamber 34,5% = 340 deputies — Senate 37% = 163 senators (5 more than the majority quota)

- CENTER-RIGHT (BERLUSCONI): Chamber 29,5% = 140 deputies — Senate 31%

- 5 STAR MOVEMENT (SHACKLE): Chamber 19% = 91 deputies — Senate 16,5%

- WITH MONTI FOR ITALY (MONTI): Chamber 9,5% = 46 deputies — Senate 9%

- CIVIL REVOLUTION (INGROIA): House 3,5% — Senate 3%

The turnout data is less negative than expected: according to initial estimates, 74,3% of those entitled to the Chamber voted (-4% compared to 2008).
