Cagliari, Bergamo and perhaps Perugia won by the centre-left in the first round, Bari and Florence in the run-off, but with the left ahead, the right wins in the first round only in Pescara. The center-right is "consoled", for the moment, with the victory at the Regionals in Piemonte, where the outgoing president Alberto Cirio is heading towards a solid victory.
Cagliari, Bergamo: the center-left wins in the first round
The counting of the municipal elections has officially begun and the first projections seem to reward the center-left especially in those territories where the now traditional divisions have been put aside.
Let's start from Sardinia. After the Region, the center-left also takes the capital. TO Cagliari Massimo Zedda, supported by Pd and M5S and supported by Italia Viva which however did not present its own list, has a clear advantage (59,8%) over his namesake Alessandra Zedda (34,6%), former president of the Sardinian regional council and former councilor, once in Forza Italia and then merged with the League.
The center-left, however, holds its own Bergamo, where the candidate Elena Carnevali (52,87%) wins in the first round, beating her centre-right rival Andrea Pezzotta (43,9%) and Vittorio Apicella (3,23%), of the M5s. The result matches the exploits of the outgoing mayor Giorgio gori who obtained over 210 thousand preferences in the European elections, placing second in the North West constituency behind Cecilia Strada (Pd, over 282 thousand) and ahead of general Roberto Vannacci (Lega, 186 thousand). “A result beyond expectations. 51 thousand preferences in the province, 11 thousand in the city. There is a great result for the Democratic Party in Bergamo, which gives hope for the administrative elections. But it is also the sign of a territory that wants to count in Europe."
Center-left firmly ahead also Modena where Massimo Mezzetti is in the lead with 64,35% of the votes, with the support of (Pd, Alleanza Verdi E Sinistra, M5s, Modena Civica, Azione – We are Europeans, Piazza Futura, Uniti Per Modena-Italia Viva-+Europa- Psi). Luca Negrini follows who obtained 28,03% of the votes, with the support of Fratelli d'Italia, Luca Negrini Mayor, Forza Italia – EPP, Lega.
The centre-right should instead win in the first round Pescara – with Carlo Masci of the centre-right at 57,29%, Carlo Costantini of the centre-left (Pd+M5s) at 29,58% – and Campobasso, where De Bendittis is currently at 50,1% against 32,8% of Forte, candidate of Pd + M5s.
Bari and Florence on the ballot
The surprise of this round of Administrative is perugia, with Vittoria Ferdinandi (Democratic Party, 5 Star Movement, Green and Left Alliance, Action and part of Italia Viva) ahead with 49,1% over Margherita Scoccia of the centre-right to the point (48,28%) that she could win already in the first round .
Polls confirmed a Florence, where the PD candidate Sara Funaro (43,2%) does not reach 50% and goes to a run-off with the former director of the Uffizi Eike Schmidt (33,58%, centre-right candidate). Stefania Saccardi of Italia Viva stops at 6,97%, while the "Democratic Florence" list led by former councilor Cecilia Del Re is at 6%. In this context it is necessary to underline the excellent result of the outgoing mayor at the European elections Dario Nardella, elected with almost 100 thousand preferences, 60 thousand of which in Florence.
Second round also a bari, where Vito Leccese is in the lead (47,1%), the PD candidate heir to the outgoing mayor Antonio Decaro. The Northern League member Fabio Romito, candidate of the centre-right, has 29,1 percent. The victory in the first round fails because the five-star Michele Laforgia (22,3%) sneaked in between Leccese and the tricolor band. Worth underlining in this case is the boom in the southern constituency of the outgoing mayor of Bari Antonio DeCaro who beats everyone, including the secretary of the Democratic Party Elly Schlein, and garners almost 500 thousand preferences. An even more significant result after the judicial storm that has hit Puglia in recent months and which led the leader of the M5s Antonio Conte (from Puglia) to renounce any alliance, however decreeing the defeat of his party, out of the ballot in Bari .
Also to Potenza we are moving towards the run-off, with Fanelli (centre-right) at 44% and Telesca (Civico) at 30,5%.
In Piedmont Cirio confirmed as president
According to initial projections, the centre-right candidate Alberto Cirio 54,13% of the votes are reconfirmed as president. Gianna Pentenero (centre-left) obtained 35,2%, while the M5S candidate Disabato stopped at 8,1%.
Cirio, supported by Lega, Fratelli d'Italia, Forza Italia, Noi Moderati and civic lists, had won the challenge against Sergio Chiamparino in 2019 with 48,9% of the votes and in 2014 he was elected to the European Parliament with Forza Italia.
