Elections, ballots: the Democratic Party reconquers Livorno, but the League conquers Ferrara and Forlì

After 5 years of M5S administration, Livorno returns to the Democratic Party. The dem mayors are also confirmed in Reggio Emilia, Cremona and Prato, while the League wins Forlì and Ferrara, which moves to the center-right for the first time in 70 years. In Campobasso however, the only municipality in which they had reached the second round, the Five Stars defeated the government ally Domenica Maria D'Alessandro, supported by the League, Fi and Fdi. These are the main results of the ballots for the administrative elections that took place on Sunday, which saw a drop in electoral turnout: even -16% compared to the first round.

"Extraordinary victories of the League in the ballots, we have elected mayors where the left has governed for seventy years", rejoices the Minister of the Interior and leader of the Carroccio, Matteo Salvini.

The mayor of Livorno however, it will be the journalist Luca Salvetti, candidate of the Democratic Party, who wins back the city lost five years ago with 63,3% of the votes to the benefit of the grillino Filippo Nogarin (who did not reapply, but ran in the European elections and was not elected ).

Opposite result in the other decisive challenge, that of Ferrara, where the centre-left lost for the first time since the war. The Northern League's Alan Fabbri (56,8%) won, beating Pd candidate Aldo Modonesi in the ballot.

A Reggio Emilia the outgoing mayor, Luca Vecchi, who narrowly failed to reconfirm his seat in the first round: he does so today with an overwhelming majority of 63,3%.

A Forlì instead the center-right tears the city away from the center-left: Gian Luca Zavattini with 53,1% of the votes surpasses Gioirgio Calderoni, supported by Pd and civic lists.

A Prato the outgoing mayor Matteo Biffoni (Pd) is reconfirmed with 56,1% of the preferences, defeating the centre-right candidate Daniele Spada.

Conversely, a Biella the Lega and center-right candidate Claudio Corradino has the best of a few ballots (51%) over Donato Gentile, supported by some civic lists.

Also to Cremona the center-left candidate wins, Gianluca Galimberti who with 55,9% beats the candidate supported by Lega FI and FdI, Carlo Salvatore Malvezzi.

The united center-right rips Vercelli on the centre-left: Andrea Corsaro, former mayor from 2004 to 2014, obtained 54,8% of the votes against the outgoing centre-left mayor, Maura Forte.

Ad Avellino, where the challenge was entirely within the center-left, won with 51,5% of the votes Gianluca Festa, supported by some civic lists of the center-left, over Luca Cipriano, supported by Pd and civic lists.
