Administrative elections: in Verona before Tosi, Orlando in Palermo and Doria in Genoa

ADMINISTRATIVE ELECTIONS - Polls closed in over 900 Italian municipalities - The first indications coming from the polls seem quite clear: Palermo to Leoluca Orlando (IDV), Genoa to Marco Doria (outsider supported by Sel) and Verona to Flavio Tosi (Anti-League Bossi) - In Parma grillini with 21%, towards the ballot - The defeat of the center-right looms.

Administrative elections: in Verona before Tosi, Orlando in Palermo and Doria in Genoa

Polling stations closed throughout Italy and the first verdicts are on the way. At 15 pm the two-day election for the nomination of the new ones ended mayors in over 900 Italian municipalities, including 28 provincial capitals.

The first projections on real data seem to give rather clear indications: Palermo to Leoluca Orlando (IDV), Genoa to Marco Doria (outsider supported by SEL) and Verona to Flavio Tosi (Lega). Boom of the grillino candidate in Parma (21,8%), where a runoff is likely. 

PALERMO: ORLANDO IN THE LEAD

According to the fourth Rai screening (relative to 9% of the sample), Leoluca Orlando is ahead in Palermo with 46,8%. Frabrizio Ferrandelli (Pd and Sel) stops at 16,6% and Vincenzo Costa (Pdl and Udc) at 13,3%. “It's a resounding success that suggests that Palermo is not dead. Politics is dead in Palermo. And the Palermitans have given a strong response that says no to the logic of caste, to the tightrope of politics,” Orlando commented. 

GENOA: DORIA COULD WIN IN THE FIRST ROUND

According to the fourth projection of the Piepoli Institute for Rai (10% of the sample) Doria is at 46,5%, followed by Enrico Musso (third pole) at 15,8% and by Paolo Putti (5-star movement) at 14,0%.

VERONA: TOSI VERSO RECONFIRMED IN THE FIRST ROUND

With 20 out of 268 sections scrutinized, Flavio Tosi was confirmed mayor of Verona with 57,82% of the votes. According to data released by the Ministry of the Interior shortly before 18 pm, Michele Bertucco (centre-left) stops at 22,32%, while Grillino candidate Gianni Benciolini is at 9,23% and Luigi Castelletti (Pdl and Udc) all '8,88%. The other three candidates fell short of 1%.

PARMA: POSSIBLE BALLOT BETWEEN BERNAZZOLI AND GRILLINO PIZZAROTTI

In Parma, a possible run-off between the center-left mayoral candidate Vincenzo Bernazzoli (34,2%) and that of the grillini Federico Pizzarotti (21,8%). This is what emerges from the second projection of the Piepoli institute broadcast by Tg3 (sample coverage 8%). Elvio Ubaldi, the candidate supported by the UDC and two civic lists, holds 15,9%; Roberto Ghiretti, from the 'Parma Unita' civic list, holds 10,1%, while PDL candidate Paolo Buzzi holds 6,9% and Northern League candidate Andrea Zorandi 2,9%.

TURNOUT DOWN TO 67,5%

THEaffluence at the polls, according to the final data from the Viminale, it fell by almost 7 percentage points compared to the previous consultations. Only 66,88% of eligible voters voted, compared to 73,74% in the previous elections.
