Electrolux: quarterly accounts disappoint, possible cuts on Italian factories

Electrolux accounts disappoint and the group announces new cost cuts, which could also affect Italy. The Swedish appliance maker's third quarter closed with core operating profits of 1,08 billion kroner (123 million euros), against 1,42 billion in the same period of 2012. A result that disappointed analysts, which predicted a more contained decrease, to 1,30 billion. In the late morning, the stock took a dive on the Stockholm Stock Exchange.

Electrolux employs a total of over 6.000 people in Italy, but the Scandinavian company has announced that it will open "a survey of all Italian household appliances factories to verify whether and with which actions to increase competitiveness and reduce costs it is possible to restore the sustainability of productions today seriously compromised in the European context”.

The four Italian factories are located in Forlì, Porcia, in the province of Pordenone, Solaro, in the province of Milan (900 people) and Susegana, in the province of Treviso. The investigation by the Swedish group, according to the note from Electrolux Italia, will close next April.
