The Metropolitan City of Venezia he signed on Monday with Ase (AcegasApsAmga Servizi Energetici, a Hera group company) a plan to increase the energy efficiency of 101 public buildings distributed in 17 Municipalities of the territory. The agreement will save about 13,6 million kWh per year, equal to an energy saving of 55,3% between electricity and heat. In terms of avoided CO2 emissions, the agreement is worth approximately the equivalent of 19 new trees.

"The signing of the framework agreement is preparatory to the signing of the implementation contracts with the individual municipalities which will be signed in the coming months", continues the note.

In particular, the agreement concerns the following Municipalities: Caorle, Dolo, Eraclea, Fiesso D'Artico, Fossalta di Piave, Jesolo, Noale, Pramaggiore, San Stino di Livenza, Torre di Mosto, Mirano, Santa Maria di Sala, Camponogara, Metropolitan City, Cona, Fossò and Vigonovo.

In addition to the maintenance and energy management of the 101 public buildings, "over the established 15-year period, approximately 630 energy requalification interventions in the various buildings involved”, the note continues.

The annual fee for the management of energy services of the individual Municipalities will in any case be lower than the current annual expenditure incurred by the individual Administrations, because the interventions will not be financed by individual Municipalities, but from the thermal account and the savings achieved by Ase, which will invest approximately 10,7 million euros in the entire project.

The plan falls within the European funding program called “Elena”, which saw the non-repayable disbursement by the European Investment Bank to the Metropolitan City of Venice of one million and 34 thousand euros for the technical, financial and legal assistance necessary for the realization with the mechanism of Financing through Third Parties of interventions of energy efficiency on buildings and public lighting networks of 25 municipalities belonging to the territory of the metropolitan city of Venice for an equivalent of approximately 36 million euros.
