CR7 effect: Juve, the Italian queen of social networks

The championship is at a standstill due to the virus, but this does not appease the desire for football, and above all for Juventus. This is what emerges from social networks, where the Juventus club is increasingly positioning itself at the top of the most appreciated and most followed Italian brands (not just sports). This was revealed by the ranking drawn up by a specialized Spanish site, Deportes y Finanzas, which calculated the ranking of sports clubs around the world for interactions on social channels. Starting from Facebook, historically the most used social network but not the most popular one: on this platform, Juventus in April was second only to European champions Liverpool, ahead of Manchester United, Real Madrid and American sports giants such as the Los Angeles Lakers (Nba basketball) and the New York Yankees (baseball).

But be careful: as mentioned, we are talking about interactions: in fact, Juve has "only" 41 million followers, against 111 million for example of Real Madrid, or 103 million of Barcelona. But his fans are much more active: in April 7,6 million commented, shared posts, liked photos and videos, sent messages. More than them, only those of Liverpool with 12,4 million interactions, in a top 10 almost entirely dominated by football clubs: the first "intruders" are, right in tenth place, the Mumbai Indians of cricket. Note the presence of the Moroccans of Raja Casablanca in sixth place, while no other Italian clubs appear in the top 20 and the most followed South American team is River Plate. In March, Cristiano Ronaldo's club was fourth in this ranking.

A little less well, but even there with a significant growth trend, is the "performance" of Juventus on Twitter (where it is eighteenth) and on Instagram, where it is in eighth place for interactions, but about to become the first absolute Italian brand. The social success of the black and whites is in fact about to go beyond the sports sphere, even surpassing sacred monsters of Made in Italy such as Gucci, which to date appears to be the most participated brand on Instagram, where it is 79th in the ranking of the most followed accounts with almost 40,4 .XNUMX million followers. Juventus is 85th, second among Italians, at almost 39,5 million. Juve, however, even in these times of the coronavirus, is growing by around 20-25 thousand followers a day, more or less three times as much as Gucci does on an average day. So the calculation is simple: in a couple of months, there will be overtaking.

How can this boom be explained? Easy, with two letters and a number: CR7. Cristiano Ronaldo is in fact the most followed man (not just the sportsman) in the world on Instagram: he has 217 million followers, much more than anyone else on the planet. Singer Ariana Grande has 184 million, actress Selena Gomez 176 million, showgirl Kim Kardashian 169 million. Great rival Leo Messi stops at 150 million, followed by Neymar with 138 million. As mentioned, Juventus is approaching 40 million, while the other major Italian clubs are far below: Milan 7,7 million, Inter 5 million, Rome 3,2 million, Naples 2,1 million.
