Financial education: here is the new Italian "national strategy".

A "National Committee for the dissemination of financial, insurance and social security education" is set up within the Ministry of the Economy, chaired by Annamaria Lusardi and made up of 11 academics or experts in the field who will work for free. He expects it the program outline which outlines the new national strategy for financial education in the three-year period 2017-2019. The document, required by the bank-saving decree, was approved at the end of January by the Senate Finance Commission. The green light came unanimously, with the sole abstention of the 5 Star Movement.

The Committee, which will meet periodically and will be made up of various research groups, will have a financial allocation of one million euros a year starting from 2017. The strategy for the dissemination of financial education will be articulated along four lines: promoting initiatives on a large scale, build an incentive system, aim for excellence in interventions and work in coordination with other public and private entities.

In the first year of activity, 70% of the resources were allocated to the creation of an internet portal, the objective of which is to reach users with mass communication campaigns centered on the need to acquire knowledge and skills in the financial, social security and insurance fields.

For 2018, the establishment of financial education month is planned, in which to place initiatives and one or more events on a national and international basis. In addition, collaborations are envisaged with national and local agencies and newspapers and with business or financial-related newspapers to increase public awareness. The Committee will also work with the national radio and television service to introduce elements of basic knowledge in the financial, insurance and social security fields in the dramas and games featured in the schedule.

In favor of young people, financial education initiatives will be promoted in schools, in collaboration with the MIUR. For adults, on the other hand, the Committee intends to promote and coordinate financial education initiatives in the workplace, also in collaboration with INPS and the ministries.
