Edison: losses tripled in the first quarter, a loss of 142 million

Edison closes the first quarter with an almost tripled loss compared to the same period of 2012. The group net result was a loss of 142 million euros (-51 million euros in the first quarter of 2012). Sales revenues grew by 8,1% to 3.374 million euros thanks to the positive contribution of the electricity sector (increased by 16,5% to 1.804 million euros). Financial debt fell to 2.555 million euros (2012 million in 2.613).

"The persistence of a complex market scenario - explained Edison - especially in the gas sector, will have an impact for Edison on the expected margins from the sale of gas, which will remain negative until the next price review cycle of long-term supply contracts is closed" .

In mid-afternoon, Edison's savings shares lost on the stock market by more than 3 and a half points.
