Edison enters the biomass district heating sector by acquiring the majority (51%) of Comat Energia, the Comat Group company active in over 50 mountain communities in Piedmont. The transaction is part of Edison's development strategy in the energy and environmental services sector, which aims to become the market leader in Italy in this segment too, offering integrated services to all sectors: from industry to the tertiary sector and public administration .

Comat Energia is active in the woody biomass heating and district heating sector through more than 100 thermal power plants (heat production plants) and thus contributes to the achievement of the objectives set in the Territorial Energy Plan for the increase in the production of energy from renewable sources and for the energy efficiency of private and public buildings. Through simple and consolidated technologies, Comat Energia allows Municipalities to access sustainable forms of heating both from an environmental and an economic point of view.
