“The year that is about to end, on the other hand, was profoundly characterized by peaks in gas and raw material costs, which generated a negative impact on production activity – continued the president of Assolombarda -. This circumstance has certified that energy represents a strategic issue of economic and industrial policy, which must be tackled at the Italian and European level in a structural way. While on the one hand we appreciate the Government's commitment during the year, net of improvements to the Budget Law we are discussing, on the other hand, synergy with Europe is fundamental, which only today, after several months, has reached an agreement on the gas price ceiling. At the national level, a strategic vision is needed that finally guarantees energy independence, while Brussels must act promptly as it did during the pandemic emergency, responsibly adopting a common policy for the benefit of continental companies".
Regarding the EU agreement on price cap, Spada commented with a "good, but 180 euros per megawatt hour is too high".
Besseghini: "Effective but temporary measures from governments"
“The business world is enduring with great seriousness and professionalism an emergency that we can no longer define as such, after more than a year of sacrifices, said Besseghini, adding that the Authority “is deciding on all the tools that allow it to deal with transitional situations of cash flow and supply contract difficulties. It is to be hoped that the climate of collaboration that is consolidating at European level will contribute to the stability that all governments, individually, have tried to induce in recent months, with measures that are often effective but by their nature temporary”.
