The General States of the Chambers of Commerce on 'Sea Economy which was attended by the Ministers for Civil Protection and for Marine Policies In the Musumeci and of companies and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso.
The initiative, organized by Unioncamere, Italian Assonautica e Blue Forum, represented an important appointment to discuss the needs of businesses and national development policies of the Economy of the Sea.
During the works, moderated by Nunzia De Girolamo, experiences, good practices and projects for the sector were shared.

Economy of the sea: 150 billion of added value

The Economy of the Sea is a sector that generates almost 150 billion euros in terms of added value. L'Italy in this area it occupies the third place at European level for wealth produced, after Spain and Germany. According to the X National Report of the Guglielmo Tagliacarne Study Center on behalf of Informare, the Economy of the Sea represents more than 220.000 businesses and nearly one million jobs.

"L 'economy of the sea, especially in a country like ours with over 7 thousand km of coastline, represents an essential driving force for economic growth. On the other hand, over 220 companies operate in the sector, employing almost one million people. And it's also ayoung economy. In fact, in the sector there are over 21 companies headed by young people, equal to 9,4% of blue companies, against 8,9% of the entire national entrepreneurial fabric" underlined the president of Unioncamere, Andrew Priest.

Revitalize the maritime sector

Le Chambers of Commerce, as facilitators and interlocutors with the institutions, are seen as a point of reference for a sector that needs to be relaunched in all its supply chains.
“The Chambers of Commerce over the years have increasingly contributed in their functions to ensure that theSea Economy stood among the asset development principals of ours Country. Finally having a Ministry for the policies of the sea will allow us to give substance to this vision that we have supported for many years and which put the coordination of the policies of the sea system at the centre, in a unitary vision, transversal to the various supply chains and strongly oriented towards synergies of the territories” explained the President of Italian Assonautica, John Acampora.
Among the objectives set there is also that of writing, together with the Government, the new one Three-year plan of the sea. Plan that will be discussed in Gaeta from 25 to 27 May 2023 during the 2nd National Summit on the Economy del mare Blue Forum 2023 and entitled "Italia Nazione di Mare", in which all the main stakeholders are invited to contribute to the construction of the Italian maritime strategy.
