The AcegasApsAmga project

The construction of the 7 new bio-dryers will bring great benefits in the Paduan area with a lower environmental impact and cost containment of management. Thanks to the systems, in fact, they will be dried about 11 thousand tons of sludge per year by consuming less energy, fuels and reducing noticeably the Co2 emissions.

The Hera Group company is among the first in Italy to adopt this new technology, born in the United States, which represents the most sustainable choice for drying the sludge deriving from city sewage systems, destined for recovery.

“Thanks to this tech, whose adoption was already planned and was accelerated by obtaining funding from the PNRR, the management of the Padua treatment plants will be optimized and aspects such as logistics and transport will be improved, which will have a positive impact on the environment and the community. The recovery and reuse of sludge for agriculture and composting is in fact an issue that is increasingly felt at European level in terms of The circular economy and AcegasApsAmga was ready by adopting one innovative technology and which increases the sustainability of each process,” he explained Paul Jerkic, head of Purification and Lifting Plants of AcegasApsAmga.

Authorizations are expected to be issued within the year. There commissioning will be within March 2026.
