Pending the entry into force – scheduled for August 1st – of the new maxi incentives on cars introduced by the budget decree, it becomes operational the eco-bonus valid for the purchase of electric or hybrid motorbikes and scooters. 

This was announced by the Ministry of Economic Development. From Tuesday 22 July, for those who own a vehicle to be scrapped, it is possible to book the eco-bonus on the website ecobonus.mise.gov.it. Those who cannot carry out the scrapping will have to wait a few days to be able to request the state contribution.

Which the amount of the discount for those who use the eco-bonus on electric and hybrid scooters?

According to the provisions of the relaunch decree, those who decide to buy an electric or hybrid scooter, but do not have another vehicle to scrap, will be able to count on a contribution equal to 30% of the purchase price up to a maximum of 30 thousand euros. With the scrapping of a scooter or motorbike from Euro 0 to Euro 3 instead the contribution can reach 40% of the purchase price up to a maximum of 4 thousand euros. 

What vehicles can you buy? The eco-bonus is valid on new L-category electric or hybrid vehicles with two, three or four wheels. In detail, the facilitation applies to vehicles included in categories from L1e to L17. There is no Kw limit for motorcycles and electric scooters that can take advantage of the bonus. 

We remind you that, according to the provisions of the relaunch decree, for those who buy an electric, hybrid or Euro 6 car (petrol or diesel) from 1 August to 31 December 2020 there will be available maxi incentives that can reach up to 10 thousand euros. Also for cars, the contributions increase in the event of the scrapping of another vehicle registered before 1 January 2010. The purpose of the measure is to support the automotive market, which is in great difficulty due to the coronavirus emergency, and at the same time encourage the spread of less polluting means of transport, rejuvenating the Italian car fleet.
