Ecobonus condominiums: one million interventions possible, savings of up to 60%

Enea, the public agency for energy efficiency, has published some interesting estimates on the savings that can be obtained thanks to the latest budget law. And Iren will invest 50 million in the coming years to reduce the energy needs of buildings. Here's what to do.

Ecobonus condominiums: one million interventions possible, savings of up to 60%

State eco-bonuses boost the energy efficiency market. A few days after the announcement by the Iren Group that it will invest 50 million euros in the next few years to reduce the need for buildings by up to 60%, Enea is now also in the field. The mechanism envisaged by the last budget law grants concessions of 70 and 75% to encourage the energy requalification of condominiums. In general, there is a tendency to save around 2.000 Toe (Tons of oil equivalent) which in Kilowatt hours means 2,5 million less. The system is starting up in these days with positive repercussions on the entire building supply chain. There are good prospects that both private condominium owners, companies and administrators will come forward.

Enea estimates consider 1 million buildings to be modernized. For a typical medium-sized building, the cost is 300-350 million euros. The advantages given by the law will have positive effects on employment and related industries through the supply of new equipment and the installation of modern control systems. Enea made this context known in a meeting attended by its President Federico Testa. Many citizens – explained Testa – live in condominiums built in the 50s, 60s and 70s in the suburbs without any attention to energy aspects. No efficiency improvements have ever been made on these properties and almost always for cost reasons. The ecobonuses mark a discontinuity and will save up to 60% of consumption. Therefore, the government's decision to grant tax deductions to those who carry out the interventions is very advantageous.

The spirit of the standard is that of reduction of climate-altering agents from homes. It is evidently linked to the interventions envisaged in the medium-long term in favor of companies. The Revenue Agency for its part is about to issue an explanatory circular precisely for the transferability of eco-bonuses. The Deputy Minister of Economy Enrico Morando explained that everything takes place in compliance with the European budgetary rules, Italy having at heart to get interventions in important sectors of the economy off the ground.
