Promote youth entrepreneurship, although in reality not only that, and to involve Milanese creatives, even if the competition and the workshop are open to all citizens residing in Italy, precisely in the spirit of the web, which by its very definition has no borders.

In fact, there are no age limits, residence limits or educational qualifications to participate in the "App4Mi" initiative, promoted by the Municipality of Milan in partnership with RCS, Intesa Sanpaolo, Vodafone, Accenture and the Lombard startup incubator Digital Magics. The project has innovation and the digital as its central theme, and is divided into two parts: a national competition and a series of conferences and workshops in Milan to promote youth entrepreneurship.

First of all, for anyone with an interesting and original idea, it is a matter of creating an app proposal by the summer with the possibility of exploiting the Open Data of the Municipality of Milan: App4Mi (participation is free and all you have to do is register on the website www. app4mi.it ) is in fact the first training project of a public institution which makes the municipal administration database available to young people, students, undergraduates and micro-enterprises in order to develop useful and innovative applications for PCs, smartphones and tablets capable of improving services and citizens' lives.

In September, a jury made up of prominent personalities will judge the best app from the world of Italian and international digital innovation which will select the most deserving projects in various fields including: mobility, traffic and transport; greens; tourism and leisure; health and disability. At the disposal of the winners a jackpot of 20 euros as well as training internships in leading companies in the technology sector.

But that is not all: App4Mi is also a conference and workshop campus dedicated to young developers, designers and new entrepreneurs in the managerial and business fields, as well as design and user experience, project management and team working.

"Thanks to this project, carried out with important strategic partners, Milan takes a further step towards the development of Milano SmartCity by generating useful applications in the daily life of modern citizens", said the Councilor for Economic Development, University and Research, Cristina Tajani, in a press conference in which he also participated on behalf of RCS the director of Corriere della Sera Ferruccio De Bortoli: “We contribute enthusiastically to this project, which will have the double merit of providing our city with new services and generating job opportunities. We strongly believe in the confidence injection of initiatives like this, in which inventiveness and technological development come together to produce new ideas and concrete solutions”.

Enrico Gasperini instead, founder and president of Digital Magics, “Open Data is an immense resource and represents an enormous potential that we have yet to exploit in Italy. Milan has all the characteristics to become the technological district of Southern Europe. This project is an excellent start for the emergence of new services, products and innovative companies which, using the open data provided by the Municipality of Milan, will promote entrepreneurship for young people and create real value for society and the public administration".
