The Municipality organizes itineraries in the city, in the footsteps of Dante, and in the fortresses and abbeys of the surrounding area which end with stops to discover the local products and the excellence of the cuisine

EatPrato: artistic and gastronomic itineraries to discover the area

If the Pandemic does not allow people to gather in an event to talk about the territory and its products, one can at least travel through it to discover its artistic, landscape and gastronomic treasures. It is inspired by this philosophy "eatPRATO" event for the promotion and enhancement of Prato's products and food and wine and its territory organized by Municipality of Prato and the Strada dei Vini di Carmignano and Typical Flavors of Prato which invites for May to follow paths of taste, art, culture and well-being, winding through the city and the countryside.

Protagonists The historic center with its medieval walls, its palaces, churches, monuments, museums, old shops, and above all its artisans of taste. But also the contemporary Prato, a young, innovative city, always in turmoil. And again, the small villages, the woods, the hills, the valleys that surround the city with greenery, the farms and farmers.

EatPRATO Walking will cross those territories in a story slowly enjoyed along the way together, to return to live a live travel experience.

The appointment is in May to discover Prato at the time of Dante. Each appointment will ideally be accompanied by a special "travel companion": in Dante's year: you will go on a discovery of Prato, its places, its people mentioned in the Divine Comedy. The thematic itineraries will be accompanied by creative moments with actors who will give a face and voice to historical figures, will stage anecdotes, legends, poems, giving pills of theatricality outside the assigned spaces.

As cicerone the Guides of the FareArte Prato and ArteMia Associations for the historical/artistic part and the Slow Apennines for the excursion part. For storytelling in the city, the STA Spazio Teatrale all'Incontro Association with open-air theater interventions.

At the end, stops for an aperitif or lunch at restaurants, bistros, wine bars along the gourmand route of an increasingly foodie city in Prato. Or, alternatively, there is Deliver EAT, the gourmet eatBOX with exclusively local products, typical or newly created recipes.

On Sunday, extra-urban itineraries are scheduled: the destination is the hills of Val Bisenzio, churches, abbeys, fortresses. And here too, in conclusion, the stops are at farms, farms, agritourisms where you can pick up your picnic basket and taste it in safety, or, according to the regulations in force at the time, linger on site and discover the excellence of a cuisine of proximity that treasures home-grown products.

The 2021 edition unfolds in two appointments twice a year, in spring and autumn. The itinerant version of eatPRATO, Walking - says the Councilor for Tourism Gabriele Bosi - is a virtuous model, a mix of well-being, physical activity, art, culture, nature and taste that is not only decidedly original compared to the usual methods of enjoying food and wine events , but able to intercept increasingly contemporary trends and lifestyles, even beyond the contingent moment. A participatory and relational experience, but in safety.
