EasyRailFreight: Fs launches the digital platform for intermodal logistics

Italian Railway Network (RFI), leading company of the Infrastructure Hub of the FS Group, has launched EasyRailFreight, an innovative digital platform for intermodal logistics. The platform aims to promote the meeting between supply and demand in the freight transport sector, it simplifies the acquisition of supplementary services and provides a complete overview of the services available on the market.

Designed and developed by RFI, the main objective is to contribute to the decarbonisation of transport through the digitalisation of logistics processes, in line with the strategic directions defined by the European Union. EasyRailFreight was presented yesterday by the President of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana Dario Lo Bosco and by the CEO and General Director of the Italian Railway Network Gianpiero Strisciuglio.

How EasyRailFreight works

The system operates based onlist of services offered by market operators, offering an interface that allows you to present specific solutions for the transport of goods. This involves an ever-increasing number of small and medium-sized businesses. Users will be able to view the types of services available, obtaining a complete view of the shipping process, whether it is terminal-to-terminal or door-to-door transportation. Basic information is provided by the stakeholders involved, including freight railway companies, terminal operators, multimodal transport operators, administrative service companies and hauliers.

Improve intermodal transport services

The application will allow you to promote the available intermodal transport services in a more efficient and qualitative way, increasing traffic volumes and improving overall competitiveness. This will lead to greater reliability and flexibility in the supply of logistics services, benefiting the entire production system. Simplified access to existing services and the improvement of the quality of information flows will promote greater efficiency in intermodal transport, both at an infrastructural and terminal level, and will promote potential growth in traffic volumes.

RFi's commitment

With EasyRailFreight, RFI confirms its role as facilitator, aggregator and modal integrator, placing itself at the center of the logistics chain of the Italian system. This also demonstrates RFI's commitment to actively contributing to the country's transition and achieving social, environmental and economic sustainability objectives.

In a context in which the demand for logistics services is characterized by greater variability in volumes and an increase in departure and destination locations, the speed in the execution of operational processes becomes crucial in the value chain.

“EasyRailFreight wants to be a stool to support the logistics and transport of goods by rail, through a digital infrastructure that replicates the physical infrastructure. Thanks to the contribution of railway and road transport companies, terminal operators and all operators in the freight sector, we will implement the current digital system to allow the exchange of information, booking of services and predictive interventions. For this reason, RFI is engaged in a huge process of infrastructure renewal, with an unprecedented investment plan" commented the CEO and General Manager of RFIGianpiero Strisciuglio.
