Easyjet, incorrect online payments

The English company was fined 120 euros by the Antitrust for a problem with its website in Italian at the end of the procedure.

Easyjet, incorrect online payments

Five euros asked late. This is the reason why the Antitrust has fined Easyjet for 120 thousand euros. The problem concerns the internet, in particular the Italian site of the famous low cost airline based in London. Anyone who buys a ticket online and pays by credit card will be charged an additional cost "of a significant amount compared to that of the ticket itself", as stated in the Authority's latest bulletin.

This extra five euros is applied to all passengers, on each route. The real impropriety - claims the Antitrust - lies in the fact that customers are warned of having to pay more than expected only at the end of the booking and ticket purchase process. On the home page of Easyjet.com/it, various tariff offers stand out on display, while the news of the simple existence of an additional cost for those who use credit cards is in very small graphic characters, in the lower margin of the page, reachable only after a long scroll.

It is a note that reads: "*Rate [...] does not include costs attributable to credit card transactions". Insufficient warning. According to the Antitrust, "the price of tickets for air transport must be indicated in a clear and comprehensive manner from the first contact with the consumer, so as to make the final outlay necessary for the purchase of the airfare offered”.
