Easyjet, today first Milan-Rome flight

The first EasyJet flight to Rome Fiumicino departed today from Milan Linate airport, at 13.20 to be precise. A routine route, so far, only for Alitalia, which just today had to break the monopoly and make room for the low-cost airline on flights to and from the capital. "We celebrate a historic victory that puts an end to the largest aviation monopoly in Europe, which no other flag carrier has", underlines with satisfaction the CEO of Easyjet, Carolyn McCall during the presentation of the inaugural flight at Linate to institutions and industry representatives.

The objective of the low-cost company, thanks to its 5 connections a day with Rome, aims "to give all passengers the opportunity to travel in an advantageous way and to be able to choose"», adds the country manager for Italy, Frances Ouseley: “We are proud to have been chosen as the most suitable company to exercise the competition”. Today's maiden flight comes after a long procedural and legal process, which allowed Easyjet to win 7 slots between Fiumicino and Linate, with the aim of carrying between 350 and 400 passengers in the first year of operation.
