EasyJet: flights to Italy resume from 15 June

Airlines return to fly to Italy. After Ryanair's announcement, which will resume connections in July, comes that of EasyJet which will resume flight operations from 15 June. The first routes will involve 8 airports with connecting domestic flights Milan Malpensa with Palermo, Catania, Bari, Naples, Lamezia Terme, Cagliari and Olbia. The resumption of an international connection between Brindisi and Geneva has also been established.

Slowly, the routes and connections will increase, following the easing of restrictions (from 3 June it will be possible to move to many regions) but also the request of customers.

“During the period of suspension of operations, the aircraft have been maintained in order to be ready to depart again as soon as possible. The Malpensa training center has also returned to operation on 6 May, where EasyJet pilots have resumed their training activities", explains EasyJet in a note.

Regarding security, all passengers and ground and cabin staff must wear a mask. The catering service on board will be suspended. All aircraft "will be equipped with spare sanitary devices, including masks, gloves and hand sanitizer, available to passengers and crew, in case of need".

All flights will be subject to additional cleaning and sanitization of aircraft. ”EasyJet's planes – the company also reassures – are already equipped with one state-of-the-art filter technology: high efficiency particulate filters purify 99,97% of contaminants present in the cabin air, including viruses and bacteria”. These are the same systems used in hospitals that allow for a change of air every 3-4 minutes.

As regards the hold luggagea, arriving at the airport, passengers will have an automatic baggage storage system available or, alternatively, protective screens will be positioned at the check-in desks. Passengers will be asked to present and scan their own documents themselves, so that ground and cabin staff do not have to handle them during boarding. Online check-in recommended.

According to Lorenzo Lagorio, Italy country manager "our company performs an essential service both for citizens who can return to travel, and for tourism and the economies of the territories. In fact, we are the first company in Milan Malpensa, Naples, Venice and Olbia and we are sure the resumption of some of these connections will have a positive impact on tourism in these regions”.
