Earthquake and Pozzuoli Decree: few resources against bradyseism and emergency plan only in 90 days

The decree approved by the Council of Ministers allocates resources to manage the emergency but in the Phlegraean area much more is needed

Earthquake and Pozzuoli Decree: few resources against bradyseism and emergency plan only in 90 days

52,2 million euros, exercises, security plan and communication plan are the key points of the decree on bradyseism approved yesterday by the Council of Ministers. The money, lower than expected, will be spent on verification of transport infrastructures, checks on buildings in the red zone, strengthening of civil protection. A. must also be ready within 90 days new evacuation plan that gives priority (in the event of a real emergency) to the neighborhoods most at risk. Unfortunately it is not a time congruent with the state of agitation of the population. We should have it more closely, also considering the state of crisis that is affecting the economy of the area. Knowing what to do if… is a reassuring element. The allocated resources should be spent immediately, as the mayors had requested, but they are below the needs and if a comparison is made with the 30 million euros allocated just to fix the sports facilities of Caivano, it is clear that the accounts do not they come back. Finally, we start with a check on static nature of private homes. All buildings should fall into this activity, even those built in the past without respecting building regulations.

Earthquake: the Campania Region must coordinate the interventions

The Campania Region will coordinate the activities aimed at identifying the critical issues to be overcome to ensure the functionality of the transport infrastructures and all other essential services. It is clear that not only the hundreds of thousands of people living in the red zone, but everyone expects more long-term projects.

For days the Minister in Musumeci insisted on a communication plan that would illustrate to the citizens of the Phlegraean area the real risks of bradyseism and the preventive measures to be adopted. The decree also entrusts this coordination task to the Region. But he gives him forty-five days to do so. It will only concern bradyseism and not volcanic risk. The shocks, meanwhile, they do not decrease even if their magnitude is lower than the most dangerous one on September 27th. The expenditure included in the decree should not encounter bureaucratic obstacles. But between the rules and their application there is always a time that does not respond to emergencies. For once we could disprove the bad practice.
