With the beginning of the new year, EADS changes its name and becomes Airbus Group. In a note, the European aerospace and defense group announced that it will use the new brand for all three of its operating divisions: Airbus for the commercial aircraft unit, Airbus Defense and Space for the activities of Cassidian, Astrium and Airbus Military. ; Airbus Helicopters for commercial and military helicopter activities.
“Joining forces under the strength of the Airbus brand gives all of our businesses and employees the drive to capture global markets,” said CEO, Tom Enders. At the same time as the name change, the group started the procedures to change the legal form from Airbus Group NV to Airbus Group SE (European Company) also based in the Netherlands.
The shareholders will approve the name change at the shareholders' meeting next May, while the process of changing the corporate form will be completed with the shareholders' meeting of May 2015.
