The Made in Italy portal has started

The Made in Italy portal, the e-commerce showcase of our companies on foreign markets, was officially launched on 8 November

Finally, the Made in Italy portal, the "shopping mall" which aims to be an institutional showcase of our companies on foreign markets, in all the production and service sectors of our companies, is officially launched. The portal is accessible to all interested companies, both Italian and foreign, starting November 8, and is available in three languages: English, Russian and Chinese. The project was implemented by the Ministry of Economic Development, Reteitalia Internazionale and the Italian Post Office. The address is www.madeinitaly.gov.it. The main pages are attached.

The portal has a home page where, in addition to current news on the various Made in Italy products and sectors, there are the two fundamental sections of the site: "Buy now Made in Italy" and "Find your Italian Partner” (Find your Italian partner).

The first section contains a search program for potential foreign customers interested in one of the sectors listed, which currently has around 7.000 Italian companies registered, each with its own presentation sheet, product catalogue, business opportunities, addresses, contacts. For each sector there is a subdivision into various sub-sectors, and the search is very easy and quick. Italian companies that want to register have a special page available, reserved only for them.

In the second section, foreign companies can address their requests/offers for goods and services directly to the Italian ones, and thus initiate business contact.

Irony of fate: the portal was announced by Deputy Minister Polidori on the very day in which the government no longer had a majority in Parliament, and President Berlusconi had to announce his resignation.

Personally, I find it difficult that in many of the sectors considered, many businesses start and are concluded through a simple e-commerce path. However, it is certainly better to have this portal, a sort of very simple electronic showcase of Made in Italy - at no cost - and at hand, than not having it. There is a certain advantage: many of our SMEs, who are a bit lazy when it comes to building a website, will have an extra incentive to build a profile on the portal that can be practical and captivating.

And in any case, with the need to build more relationships with distant markets, an extra contact is still something.
