E.ON Energia plants trees for reforestation in Italy

Original social rooting initiative with more than 100 trees in 8 Regions.

Culture equals environmental sustainability. The energy group E.ON has invested in 34 areas in 8 regions by planting trees. An original way of supporting the landscape with 100 customers in support. Piedmont, Lombardy, Emilia Romagna, Trentino Alto Adige, Veneto, Lazio, Umbria and Puglia have therefore made it possible to now reach the record figure of 101 new plantings. An all-Italian imaginary forest that absorbs over 74 tons of CO2.

The project was born in 2011 in collaboration with AzzeroCO2, a consultancy firm for sustainability founded by Legambiente and the Kyoto Club. AzzeroCO2 acts on the territories according to a methodology inspired by guidelines defined by the UN ChangeThe Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. But why did an energy company make this choice? "100.000 trees, thanks to as many customers who have supported our commitment and the absorption of tons of CO2 are a result of which we are particularly proud" explains Péter Ilyés, CEO of E.ON Italia who also plans not to interrupt the experiment . Good performance also by AzzeroCO2. "We are convinced that sustainability is a key factor for transformation, not only within our sector, but for people's lives. Our commitment is to involve our customers in concrete initiatives" says Sandro Scollato, Chief Executive Officer.

In essence a cultural design that does not aim only at museums, exhibitions, special events, but has understood that Italy has a strong need for these forms of social roots.

The originality lies in the offer to communities of usable places to be able to live recovering natural elements. The truly virtuous system has its foundations in the customers who in contact with E.ON, when subscribing to the commercial offers GasVerde Più and E.ON GasClick, choose the green option: they convert the points accumulated with the My E.volution program into planting trees.

As experts in widespread energy, E.ON wants to reduce direct emissions by 75% by 2030 and by 100% by 2040. They have chosen a challenging path of "culture of living" and will continue. The trees planted and the entire “Boschi E.ON” mega-plan are pleasant travel companions.
