Enrico Braggiotti, former Comit banker, has died

Enrico Braggiotti, historic banker of Italian finance, has died at the age of ninety-six.

Born in Turkey in 1923, he left the land of his birth with his family for the Principality of Monaco. After studying economics, he joined the Banca Commerciale Italiana – the bank of reference for large Italian industry – which allowed him to move between Marcocco and Italy during the 1960s. In 1965 he was at the Central Management in Milan, in 1984 he was a member of the Central Management Committee, then managing director in 1988 and president in XNUMX.

The Italian eighties saw a profound transformation of the banking system towards financial globalisation, in particular the privatization of national banks, of which Mediobanca represents one of the most emblematic cases. Banca Commerciale is at the forefront of this process, thanks to the contribution Enrico Braggiotti makes in the field of privatization by virtue of his position.

In 1990 Enrico Braggiotti left the presidency of Banca Commerciale Italiana and returned to the Principality of Monaco where he assumed the presidency of the Compagnie Monegasque de Banque. Two years later he was granted Monegasque nationality.

In 2004, the Monegasque equity group of the Compagnie Monégasque de Banque decided to sell its stake to Mediobanca, while in 2006, Enrico Braggiotti left the presidency.

From his wife Madga de Portu he had four children, Gianluca, Gerardo, also a banker, Sandra and Silvana.
