On the occasion of Festa del Torrone a has arrived on the market new perfume which stands out from traditional fragrances. Sweet Fundamentum, created by the brand Enlightenment di Luana Piroli e Michele Lorenzin, was born as a tribute to the confectionery traditions of Cremona, but with an unusual and personal approach.
Dulce Fundamentum: the scent that combines nougat and bautino di vergani
The perfume is inspired, in fact, by Nougat, but it does not simply replicate its smell. Its composition refers to a more complex olfactory experience, linked to family and cultural memories that are intertwined with local history. Luana Piroli, who was born in Cremona, has chosen to mix the typical nougat fragrances with another traditional dessert of the city: the Vergani's bautino. This combination, which may seem unusual, was designed to evoke the atmosphere of certain family moments, but also to convey a sense of continuity between past and present.
“Inside our new fragrance I wanted to collect my grandmother's caress, my grandfather's kiss on the forehead,” Piroli said, “and the bautini that my father threw on Christmas night,” Piroli said. This is where the idea of combining the fragrance of nougat with that of Vergani's bautini was born, a challenge that was anything but simple and that today has the flavor of “a sweet embrace.”
A niche artisanal perfume
Dulce Fundamentum fits into the niche perfumes, characterized by the use of essential oils and from a longer and more complex production process than that of commercial perfumes. creation & of the perfume took about nine months, including the 45 days of maceration needed to perfect the fragrance. This long Working process, which uses quality ingredients, contributes to a longer persistence of the fragrance, although not invasive. Another aspect that distinguishes it from the most popular perfumes is its limited production: the artisanal process and the time needed to make it mean that it is not designed for the mass market.
Behind this creation there is also a reflection on artisanal perfumery and its relationship with the new generations. Piroli and Lorenzin collaborate with a Emilia-Romagna laboratory which offers training opportunities to young professionals in the sector, focusing on innovation and the involvement of emerging talents rather than established names.
Fragrance and packaging inspired by the tradition of Cremona
The perfume develops on an olfactory pyramid that includes top notes of dark chocolate, hazelnuts toasted e rum, which are joined, in the heart, by the notes of almond e honey, evoking a feeling of warmth and intimacy. The base notes, finally, include cotton candy e tonka bean, which complete the composition with a persistence that never ends in excess.
The visual appearance of the product also plays an important role: the the packaging is the work of Michele Lorenzin. “I could only have chosen silver and red, the colors of the city of Cremona, trying to visually render what Luana has given to our sense of smell by choosing an enveloping pack,” said Lorenzin.
