Ducati is German, Audi will pay 860 million

From Borgo Panigale to cold Ingolstadt, Germany, the most famous Italian motorcycles in the world change hands. Audi's Germans bought Ducati for 860 million euros. By now the rumor about the agreement in the final straight has been circulating for weeks, but today the news was confirmed to the German news agency Dpa. AdnKronos was the first to relaunch it in Italy.

However, it will be necessary to wait another 24 hours for the official announcement: tomorrow the supervisory boards of mother Volkswagen and the subsidiary Audi will meet to give the final ok to the operation. There are no confirmations from the German company for now.

Ducati will raise the number of brands in the Volkswagen group to twelve and increase the long-standing rivalry between Audi and BMW in motorcycles. According to Reuters sources, the exact purchase price could be defined in the press release that Audi and Investindustrial intend to disseminate on the occasion of Volkswagen's annual meeting in Hamburg.
