Drills and highways: this is what changes with Conte 2

The Prime Minister explained that permits for new drilling will not be granted - As for the motorways, the review of the concession continues and in theory could even lead to its revocation

Le drilling concessions in progress will not be touched, but from now on the State will not grant new ones. As for the revision of the motorway concession, the operation launched in recent months after the tragedy of the Morandi Bridge continues and - in theory - could also lead to revocation, which in any case remains an unlikely scenario. This is the picture that emerges from the latest statements from members of the newly formed Pd-M5S government.

“We will make the concession system more efficient and rational carrying out a progressive and inexorable revision of the whole system - said the Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, in inaugural speech in the House – We are determined to introduce legislation that no longer allows the issue of new drilling concessions for the extraction of hydrocarbons. Whoever comes after us, if they ever want to assume the irresponsibility of making the country go back, will have to do so by changing this law".

as to review of motorway concessions launched following the collapse of the Morandi bridge, "we will complete the procedure without any discount for private interests - continued the head of government - having the exclusive objective of protecting the public interest and the memory of the 43 victims, a tragedy that will remain an indelible page in our country's history".

Conte's words received convinced applause from the benches of the 5 Star Movement, while those arriving from the benches of the Democratic Party were less unanimous and decisive.

Shortly afterwards, he also spoke on the same subject Graziano Delrio: “We have been very clear on the motorway concessions – explained the leader of the Democratic Party to the microphones of Sky Tg24 – The revision of the concession systems, not only motorways, is important to always better protect the public interest. Some concessions, in particular those linked to the tragedy of the Morandi bridge, must be seen, as the Presidency of the Council is already doing, with groups of experts they can also go as far as revocation".

With these statements, Delrio corrected the shot compared to what was said last week by the new Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Paola De Micheli, which had ruled out the revocation, speaking only of revision, as foreseen by the government agreement.
