Draghi: "Full harmony with Biden". G7 launches anti-Covid plan

The G7, the summit of the seven largest countries in the world, has launched an anti-pandemic plan, summarized in the Declaration of Carbis Day from the name of the Cornish town that hosted the summit meeting, to counter the viruses that scourge the world. The main objective of the plan is to shorten the production times of the new vaccines which the aim is to put in place within 100 days. But the plan anti-pandemic also provides a monitoring global and constant on epidemics, the strengthening of the WHO (here we see the paradigm shift between the Trump Presidency and the Biden Presidency) and the donation of a billion vaccines to poor countries.

However, the G7 highlighted the different views between the US and Europe on the China and the loose cannon of Brexit. On the first point, President Biden has proposed a reconstruction and investment plan in infrastructure that represents an alternative to the Chinese Silk Road, even if he was vague in defining its functioning. Brexit instead it continues to divide the EU and the United Kingdom: British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has threatened to blow up the agreements with Brussels if the EU intervenes on the Irish question.

The Cornwall summit was also the occasion for the first bilateral meeting between Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi and US President Joe Biden. "It went very well" commented Draghi, underlining the full identity of views on the policy to tackle climate change and on the defense of human rights. Draghi has received Biden's appreciation for how theItaly is moving on the European stage, above all the reference to the recent EU meeting on thesanitary emergency and on the role of leader that our prime minister is exercising in a Europe that is about to leave the scene of German Chancellor Angela Merkel. On the other hand, the China issue has only been touched upon in the bilateral relationship, on which there are different sensitivities between the USA and Europe. Draghi took the opportunity to invite Biden to Italy ("Consider yourself a permanent guest") and the American president, who is a great admirer of the beauties of our country and who is in love with Capri, he promised he will come.,
