The new leaderboards will be effective from November 22, 2021.
A Intesa Sanpaolo an overall score of 83 out of 100 was assigned, compared to an industry average of 38. Leonardo, inclusion in the S&P Global DJSI adds to what the Company has achieved in the last two years: positioning in band A of the Defense Companies Index on Anti-Corruption and Corporate Transparency (DCI) prepared by Transparency International, inclusion in the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index, reconfirmation of the role of United Nations Global Compact LEAD, inclusion in the CDP (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project) Climate A List 2020 for measures against climate change, as well as better positioning in the main ESG ratings .
TIM reiterates the Group's commitment to integrating sustainability into the corporate strategy. Indeed, TIM's attention to ESG principles is confirmed in the 2021-2023 Strategic Plan: since last January, the Group has aligned its sources of funding, setting long-term and measurable objectives at the heart of its development strategy. TIM is included in the most important world indexes. In addition to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, it has recently been confirmed in the Euronext Vigeo-Eiris sustainability index and included in the new MIB®️ ESG index launched by Euronext and Borsa Italiana.
The multi-utility Hera further raised the sector benchmark reaching an overall score of 90/100 (an improvement compared to 87/100 in 2020), against a sector average of 39/100. The evaluations obtained were 92/100 in the Environment area, 90/100 in Economic & Governance and 88/100 in the Social sector, with a leadership position in all three areas subject to evaluation.
Poste Italiane further strengthens its leadership in sustainability, “inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the third consecutive year – in the words of CEO Del Fante – is in line with the ambitious objectives set in the new 2024 Business Plan Sustain & Innovate”. The score obtained - said Giuseppe Lasco, Co-General Manager of Poste Italiane - highlights the goodness of the path undertaken by the Company towards the integration of ESG risks in the business and rewards its continuous commitment towards citizens and the country in the context changing dictated by the health emergency.”
Pirelli, however, it was Marco Tronchetti Provera, Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer, who commented on the good result shared by the other Italian companies in the index: “Sustainability is a
business model for Pirelli, a growth strategy and above all, a challenge to continuous improvement in the
value creation for all Stakeholders.”
Terna, for its part, sees inclusion in the index as a reward for its investment programme: 95% of the approximately 9 billion euros envisaged in the 2021-2025 "Driving Energy" Business Plan is by its nature sustainable, based on criteria of the European Taxonomy. These investments are aimed at integrating non-programmable renewable sources and increasing the security and resilience of the electricity system.
Snam it was included for the twelfth time in the S&P DJSI Index and aims to stay there by increasing its score (86/110). In fact, in the current year it has introduced amendments to the articles of association aimed at reflecting its growing commitment to the energy transition and gender balance.
Enel instead it is in its seventeenth year with a score – in its sector – higher than 90/100. Prysmian Group is the only cable company included in the most globally recognized sustainability index, which covers over 5.300 companies. First time for Italgas in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index Europe, while it is confirmed for the third consecutive year in the world DJSI.
Launched in 1999, S&P Global's Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes are among the most relevant stock indexes on sustainability worldwide. The annual analysis covers more than 10.000 companies.
Standard & Poor's Global compares companies in 61 sectors through questionnaires that evaluate the sustainability performance of companies in an overall manner. The Dow Jones Sustainability World Index tracks the performance of the top 10% of the 2.500 largest listed companies within the S&P Global Broad Market Index, while the Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index tracks the performance of the top 20% of the 600 largest in the European continent.
