Double invoices after the cancellation: the Antitrust fines Vodafone, WindTre, Telecom and Fastweb

Double bills after cancellation or switching to another operator. For these reasons theAntitrust he sanctioned Vodafone (400 thousand euros), WindTre (300 thousand euros), Telecom (200 thousand euros) e Fastweb (100 thousand euros) for illegitimate conduct in the management of terminations of fixed and mobile telephone users, also in the hypothesis of migration to another operator. Starting at least from 2020, in the event of withdrawal or migration, the four telephony giants still sent the bill to the user, thus configuring a double bill. The four telephone companies have been warned against continuing to implement the incorrect practice and within 90 days they will have to inform the Authority of the initiatives taken to remedy the critical issues reported.

The fines arrive in the same period in which the cost of living has also overwhelmed telephony, both fixed and mobile. Recently, many companies have increased their monthly rates (Fastweb up to 5 euros more per month), with no possibility of withdrawal or remodulation for the customer.

Double invoices even after cancellation: illegitimate request

According to the Authority, "the illegitimate continuation of invoicing - after the request for termination of the service - is attributable to anomalies and technical misalignments between the IT management systems of the internal process of each company, with respect to which the same, even if different, have not adopted effective mechanisms of control and timely intervention". The Antitrust has firmly disapproved the cases of double billing in the migration to another supplier with the illegitimate request to the user to pay the invoices of both the new and the previous operator.
