After a troubled trust, Berlusconi has the test of "doing"

In the end, Berlusconi showed himself euphoric and triumphant: acclaimed by his followers, he spoke of a "fool of the opposition", of "foiled tricks". And certainly he could only be happy to have obtained (316 yes, equal to one vote more than the absolute majority of the House and 7 more than the required majority of 309) the over fifty-sixth trust of this Legislature. An achievement, that at least allows him to survive. Now however, also to respond to what was asked of him by the President of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano, he will have to demonstrate that he is also capable of governing. And that means pointing the name for the Governor of the Bank of Italy, launch i measures for growth and those for the recovery of the economy loudly asked by international organizations. Starting with development decree.

And it was precisely of the latter that Berlusconi spoke of, immediately after obtaining the trust, to say that it will be launched by the end of next week. In short, if not a postponement, certainly not an acceleration. And here, however, the Prime Minister added an important element: the decree will be done at zero cost, as requested by Economy Minister Giulio Tremonti, with whom yesterday he showed himself arm in arm on the sidelines of the voting in progress. Yet the leader of the PDL Fabrizio Cicchitto had said publicly that growth cannot be promoted at zero cost. Thesis supported, in addition to by Prestigiacomo, who has seen the ministry practically subtracted from cuts of 90%, by many of the most ardent supporters of the Cavaliere, who, not surprisingly, accuse the Minister of Economy one day yes and the other as well.

In short, there is a quality problem of the majority, beyond the quantity, secured for now with yet another vote of confidence. Is that the hold of the majority is more than precarious the many statements of those exponents of the gods have demonstrated this Managers, but also of the PDL, who were keen to say that they would have voted for confidence, but, after that, they would have waited for the facts. Berlusconi will probably talk about this in his conversation with the head of state, given that it was Napolitano himself who raised the problem. But the Prime Minister explained that tonight's meeting does not concern the vote of the Chamber and had been scheduled for some time. We will see.

After all even in today's vote the majority lost pieces. They did not vote openly for trust (i.e. with announcement and motivation) Versace, Destro, Gava and Sardelli. Others may follow, perhaps in some secret ballot. It is no coincidence that yesterday the secretary of the Pd Bersani commented on the result of the vote, noting that "a government of trust can also die". Nor were the usual squabbles with the radicals, who by voting before the other opposition forces, according to some, would have favored the achievement of the quorum necessary for the validity of the vote. But the problems of the Democratic Party and of the opposition more generally are others. So far, neither the centre-left nor the third prong has succeeded in putting in place a credible program and coalition. And perhaps it is precisely because of this lack of credibility of the oppositions that Berlusconi has saved himself once again, even if only by the skin of his mouth
