Doping: Schwazer in Rio? 20% chance

This was supported by the lawyer Guido Valori, a member of the TAS, after the South Tyrolean walker pleaded innocent, claiming that he had been sabotaged: "There is little chance that the TAS will decide to block the suspension of the IAAF and make him compete: I would say no more than 20% even for the limited time available”.

Doping: Schwazer in Rio? 20% chance

“I think that for Schwazer there is little chance that the CAS will decide to block the suspension of the IAAF and let him compete in Rio. If I had to give a percentage I would say no more than 20%”. He tells Adnkronos the lawyer Guido Valori, member of the Tas, regarding Alex Schwazer's chances of being able to compete in the next Olympic Games, found positive in an IAAF anti-doping control carried out last January 1st in Vipiteno. The South Tyrolean walker pleaded not guilty claiming to have been sabotaged.

“The judge will have to decide between two different weights – explains Valori-. On the one hand there is a positivity that carries enormous weight and on the other there are a series of procedural irregularities. I think it is difficult for the CAS to believe that procedural defects have invalidated the positive result check, it's honestly a tough rebuild to do even for the limited time available".

“The defense has some points in its favor and among these there is certainly the lack of respect for anonymity but they seem few to me to let a positive athlete compete and who, moreover, also has great chances of winning. Then there is the strong risk of having to take away his medal. To be clear to block the suspension decided by the IAAF, Schwazer should have a good chance of winning the trial after the summer“, concludes the Tas member.
