Tomorrow around the world "Earth Hour"

Tomorrow around the world "Earth Hour"

The WWF's annual appointment conditioned by the Covid-19 epidemic. Social version edition. A common battle to save the planet from epidemics and climate change.

It will be a different appointment from other years, but we won't give up on “Earth Hour”, an hour with the lights off all over the world. The event is for Saturday, March 28 at 20.30. WWF has launched an appeal to raise awareness, because "taking care of the planet means taking care of humanity, especially now that the whole world is under the threat of the coronavirus". The main monuments of the world will go out for an hour, but individual citizens can do the same at home. All, as we know, in deserted cities mobilized to counter the spread of the epidemic.

“ This year will be different than usual, she said President of WWF Italy, Donatella Bianchi. There may not be joyful squares and popular events but there will still be a strong voice asking to reverse course by decisively pointing our bow towards a sustainable future. “ The keyword of the 2020 edition is "together". Together to combine the fight against climate change with a development model capable of counteracting overall phenomena harmful to health. Together also to be close, through the environmental battle, to the thousands of people on the front lines of health and emergency facilities.

Unfortunately there are many emergencies of different nature. Starting from the desire to combine research, awareness and political action, results can be obtained. We also look ahead. The long-term vision of the WWF raises tomorrow the Paris Climate Agreement Part 2015 e think about un New Deal for People and Nature for new rules for our relationship with the planet.

As for Italy - stranded between stop and go in the fight against climate change - before the coronavirus emergency, over 90 municipalities had joined to the project "One hour for the land, one hour for Italy " . Rome, Milan, Pistoia, Palermo, Chieti, Isernia, Messina, Catania, among others, had to review the decision. But, as for private citizens, they can participate by posting on the WWF social profiles, the video of their day for the climate with the hashtags #EarthHour #UnOraPerItalia. Many musicians and singers also lend a hand online in a musical relay to keep a virtual square together, in spite of the coronavirus. A challenge for the 2021 edition.
