Diversity and inclusion: the 4 Weeks 4 Inclusion is underway

From October 22 to November 22 part of the second edition of 4 Weeks 4 Inclusions, for the first time in Italy, which this year sees the participation of over 200 companies to spread the culture of inclusion. A rich program of digital events (189), each with a different theme and format, dedicated to the 700 employees of partner companies. The inaugural day's work was opened by a video on the values of inclusion with the narrative voice of Senator Liliana Segre.

During the plenary "Stories of inclusion" the theme of social and economic development is addressed, starting from company policies on inclusion. Among the participants Roberto Fico, President of the Chamber of Deputies, Elena Bonetti, Minister for Equal Opportunities and the Family, Salvatore Rossi President of TIM, Laura Nurra, Human Resources Director of American Express Italy, Ernesto Ciorra, Head of Innovability of Enel and Paola Angeletti Chief Operating Officer of Intesa Sanpaolo.

Roberto Fico, President of the Chamber of Deputies, declared: “Respecting and valuing differences is not only an ethical duty, but an engine and multiplier of economic and social development and one of the guidelines to follow to get out of the crisis. Constant confrontation with the institutions is necessary to build and accompany a solid path of inclusion".

From the research Opinions and attitudes of Italians on inclusion, carried out by Ipsos, it emerges that the road to equal opportunities is still very long. Indeed, the study shows that "care tasks" are performed by 54% of working women compared to 17% of employed men.

Maurizio Landini, Secretary General of CGIL, underlined how “the resources of the PNRR offer us an extraordinary opportunity to relaunch the economy after the pandemic. There are reforms to be made and issues that need to be addressed immediately.”

“Growth and cohesion are complementary and constitutive elements of development. Good laws are not enough, it is necessary to give prominence to decent work, to its social and relational value, to its ability to generate wealth, integration and citizenship - he added Luigi Barra, CISL General Secretary -. The barriers that hinder the entry of fragile people must be demolished, the reasons for economic democracy and the participation of workers in business decisions must be strengthened, and industrial relations enhanced".

Therefore, diversity is not a weakness but a wealth. “Inclusion is a civil duty, but also an opportunity for collective growth. There is still a long way to go: the Uil is at the forefront of this battle of civilization”, he concluded Pierpaolo Bombardieri, Secretary General UIL.
