Unemployment is down in the United States. In fact, new jobless claims for the week of February 1 fell, marking one reduction of 20 thousand units to 331 thousand, compared to the 351 thousand magazines of the previous week. The figure is almost in line with the expectations of analysts who had expected the figure to stand at 335.

The average of the last four weeks - based on data from the US Department of Labor - settled at 334 thousand, an increase of 250 units compared to the 333.750 magazines of the previous week. Finally, continuing claims totaled 25 for the week ending January 2.964.000, up 15 from the prior week's revised 2.949.00. The average for the past four weeks stood at 2.985.500, up 25.750 from the 2.959.750 reviewed the week before.
