Matteo Renzi, who wants a definitive clarification within the party and to go to the elections as soon as possible, but who has recently seemed very wavering on the way forward, could be resigned to pave the way for the congress, initially also requested by the minorities who now however seem to fear the count and do not want a flash congress but a broad discussion among the militants which could take up to four or five months.
Renzi is willing to resign and go to congress quickly but, in exchange, he asks to accelerate the use of political elections, even if the unknown factor remains new electoral law and above all it remains to decide whether to connect the majority premium of 40%, legitimized by the Constitutional Court, to one list (as Renzi seems to prefer, who would like to avert the risks of the First Republic) or to one coalition (as requested by Minister Franceschini).
In short, the confusion under the sky of the Democratic Party is high and today everything is possible. Meanwhile, internal tension is rising. the Governor of Puglia, Emiliano, who could present himself as a candidate for the secretariat as an alternative to Renzi at the congress, yesterday launched a very harsh attack on the former prime minister: "An electoral campaign with the image of Renzi as leader of the Democratic Party would be a ruin for us".
