Public employees in the office since October 15: Draghi signs the decree

The official has arrived. From 15 October, the day on which the green pass obligation will come into force for the vast majority of Italian workers, civil servants will say goodbye to smart working and they will return to the office.

The President of the Council Mario Draghi today, Friday 24 September, signed the special dpcm (Decree of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers) which establishes that "the ordinary working method in the Public Administrations from 15 October will once again be face-to-face".

After more than a year and a half spent working remotely, civil servants will therefore return to their desks. The decree also provides that “the public administrations will ensure that the return to the presence takes place in safe conditions, in compliance with the anti-Covid-19 measures".

The news had been in the air for days and had been anticipated several times by the Minister of Public Administration Renato Brunetta who today, on the sidelines of the Leonardo awards ceremony, reiterated "there will be a return in the presence of the entire public administration, to accompany the growth and life of citizens who have the right to start living again".
In the meantime, the government continues to work on a measure aimed at regulate smart working in the PA. The agreement "I think could be mature within a month", said the minister, specifying that the new agile working methods will be governed by a contract and will have "an IT basis. Smart working is done for the satisfaction of citizens and businesses, it cannot be against ”, he explained again. The resources needed to finance the new smart working will be linked to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.
