After the resignation of the premier Matteo Renzi, various possible scenarios are now opening up: Thursday 8 December the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella started the consultationswhich will end over the weekend. The Head of State should therefore arrive at the decision on Monday 12 December, presumably entrusting the task to one of the four names indicated in our survey: an encore from Matteo Renzi (in any case not too probable, given the resistance of the outgoing premier), the president of Senate Pietro Grasso, or one of the ministers of the current government (at the moment the two most popular are Pier Carlo Padoan and Paolo Gentiloni, but Delrio would also be in the running).
